At first I was feeling bitter towards the style simply because of the initial first shock that it wasn't anything what I was expecting. After all, it's safe to say that a majority of people were expecting something like what Twilight Princess offered. Especially with the concept art released at last year's E3.
I really enjoy it now! It actually reminds me of the Nintendo 64 era and the official art from the NES/SNES days. I guess it also reminds me of Wind Waker but I didn't think about it until much later, aha.
It's still taking me awhile to get used to Link's design in Skyward Sword, though, since it still gives me the impression that it's a rehash of Twilight Princess Link. But with a brighter look. Not only that but it sounds like his seiyuu is Akira Sasanuma again and I was hoping we'd have a new one seeing as though this is a new Link. It looked like there was a "new Link, new seiyuu" pattern going on up until now.
Yeah. The pants look a little off. Though what really bothered me is that Link is using the Master Sword from the beginning. Then I read some wrap-up coverage for Nintendo's Conference on 1up and there was a little spoiler there that clarified it: The sword Link is using is called the Skyward Sword, and as the story progresses, it eventually becomes the Master Sword.
This is me laughing my ass off at all the people who make such a huge deal about graphics. I liked WW and TP about the same and this new look is pretty much the best of both worlds to me.
My only concern is that there doesn't appear to be a Ganon to beat on but if the story takes place before the Master Sword is formed then I'm wondering if the plot might involve Majora somehow, which would be AWESOME.
