    On this day, back in 2001, the Suica smart card started to be used!

    Suica: a public transport card. There are many other types of cards for public transport in Japan, most of which are partly interchangeable nowadays. PiTaPa, Pasmo, and ICOCA (mentioned below) are other types of public transport card.

    November 18th is Suica Day!
