I suppose it depends on what version of the story Soutsuki writes based on, but it's possible Flandres pissed becasue Yukari tried to kill Meiling I suppose.
Though this would be something of a late arrival if that were the case, since it happened some time ago.
Sorry to kill the fun, but Yukari (phantasm, extra, an ancient youkai, "the mother of Gensokyo") > Flandre (500y/o hikki extra) + Remilia (500y/o weaker sister), also Ran (extra, kyuubi, a shikigami extremely close to her master) >> Pache (anemic extra mid, already beaten up), and Chen (extra mid, shikigami status same as Ran) >>> Koa (pathetic Stage4 mid). And now Yukari means serious business, not just some casual fucking around like in PCB Phantasm. (Although I admit Reimu would probably withstand even that and much more, being probably the first and foremost ridiculously overpowered heroine ever. And yes, I remember Nanoha.)

Physical power and danmaku power are not equal. See: Kazami Yuuka. And as for Flan's speech buuble...I cannot believe how close I was to what she actually SAID!
You seem to think that in-game power defines the basics of who should win and lose in a fan-work. That makes me laugh. If the Rule of Cool is in effect, all of that is thrown into a bin on the dark side of Mars just so people can see Cirno or Rumia kicking arse for a change.

Well, joking aside, if I remember correctly, Remilia has a deal with Yukari to bring freshly deceased corpses through the border for the vampires to feed on, to avoid human casualties inside Gensokyo. The time when youkai really hunted people for food and people really killed them for that is also gone, after all. I will miss the sometimes unexpectedly cruel Pc98 touhouverse, but at least the tea parties are a lot less awkward now.
When I saw Flandre's entrance...no... her TAG in the title... I laughed in malicious glee... all the way through the comic... the comments... and partially through writing this comment~

People keep talking about how PC98 touhou was dark, but I can't seem to find the scripts for PC98 on the wiki, and I don't want to go through the trouble of downloading an emulator, so can someone provide me with a few examples of how it was "cruel"?

Simple it's not, people like to play things up due to "lol no spell cards" (never minding the fact that ZUN devised it in the first place to explain the fact at no one dies and the patterns)
And the Wikia has some translated scrips, but in some earlier games there wasn't much dialogue at times.

I always found the PC98 games to be more of a challenge. Yukari is a joke compared to Mima.
With all respect to Yukari... No one in Gensokyo can expect to defeat a boss or ex-boss character in a pure danmaku fight or otherwise and get out of it unscathed - with the possible exception of Reimu. Vampires tend to be played up as ridiculously strong in Japan. Yukari would have a hard time against one of the sisters, but both? I don't see it.
That aside, Ran's hat is off, and she's finished warming up. Patchy'd better hope Yukari manages to come to an agreement, or at least a stalemate.

Never mind the quality of opponents. I'm not saying the Windows guys suck, far from it, but most of the time they are just being spoiled brats and their schemes have no real long-term consequences (that they have anticipated themselves ie - Yuyuko didn't remember her past and how dangerous the tree really was). The issues with which games were harder aside.
Meanwhile, Sariel is some 'evil' angel-type thing that apparenlty wants to destroy humanity (and even it was repulsed by how callous PC-98 Reimu was), Yuugen Magan is the hardest EX-Boss in the history of Touhou, Yumemi was essentially an evil Washuu (though thankfully nowhere near as powerful) obsessed with studying magic, Mima taught Marisa damn near everything she knew and was an evil spirit who wanted to destroy the Hakurei Shrine (and Reimu along with it), Yuuka is... well, she's Yuuka (and her servant has a weapon that can block danmaku shots) and enough said there, and Shinki is the undisputed ruler and creator of Makai (even if her actual scheme, turning Gensokyo into a tourist spot for demons, wasn't necessarily done with wicked intentions)! Frickin' Mima and Yuuka were playable characters for some of those games, that's the level of competition presented by the bad guys (before anyone points out PoFV, Yuuka herself stated Shiki would stomp her, Reimu, and Yuyuko all at once if she got serious so don't underestimate the Yama).
A loli-vampire who wanted to go out for a walk during the day (apparently forgetting she can just use her parasol), a ditzy ghost princess who wants to see a big cherry blossom tree bloom (and unwittingly nearly destroyed herself in the process), a spoiled moon princess who just wanted to hide herself from the real monsters from the moon (Watasuki sisters anyone?), and a duo of failed goddesses and their bratty shrine maiden who decided since they couldn't hack it as religious leaders in the real world they'd come to Gensokyo and have youkai worship them instead of humans!
Yeah, not much room for comparison there! Utsuho was the first appreciably evil Windows villain (she wanted to destroy the surface and turn it into a new Hell of Blazing Fires for whatever reason after her new power went to her head), and compared to the likes of Shinki or Yuuka, Yukari is the only seemingly epic "villain" of the Windows era.

I'm tempted to consult with a translator I know to see if what those guys mentioned was true about PC-98 bad ends. As I do know that MS's endings weren't that bad (Yuuka's merely has her cutely talking to the player about trying harder next time)
