It ain’t too healthy be ordered frequently, but when you finish the night shift and get one of these in the late morning with a bite of the dog and sip of your chosen drink, man is it a comforting pick-me-up. Blessed are the Costco pizzamakers.
I honestly felt bad for the staff making the pizzas. Perhaps it was just cause it was a rush, but watching them endlessly loading and unloading a three tiered conveyor oven with an endless stream of pizzas, then them nonstop cutting and boxing the pizzas which were frequently taken as fast as they were made, and then just having the added salt of the occasional disgruntled customer complaining about something about their pizza order and taking up one the staff's time just felt soul crushing.
Retail do be like that. I remember a moment it being so hectic and understaffed during the holiday season that for a couple days the executive team lead ordered me off security duties to run self checkout while cramming all available floor people to the registers. It was a logical move, but my LP supervisor ended up pissed that the audits and patrols weren’t being done meanwhile. A surprising amount of internal politics there I tell ya.
