A City of Kyoto LGBTQ awareness poster, as seen in Kyoto station on 2023-09-02: https://danbooru.donmai.us/media_assets/18716471

Art is credited to the students of the Kyoto University manga department.

This "random poster" is very much on-topic and well-drawn. I take this over not having this poster, even though it'd be nice to have a digital version, too.

Wow, didn't think I'd be able to look at one of these without getting angry /j. Despite me not being able to read it it looks nice compared to the western ones I've seen.

Im indeed interested in the academic japanese understanding of this topic, searching a bit on some corners it seems some queer people like the poster and considered it to be honest unlike "the stuff that corpos and politic groups use in the west" as some of them said (aside of joking that queer people dont have purple skin or making anything an anime girl is peak message). I guess the most important thing to learn about this is that impressions are as important as the message, that being said what does it say?

I'm not fluent enough to read it either, but Google Translate does a decent job in getting the message across: https://danbooru.donmai.us/media_assets/18729363

Personally I found it quite endearing to come across, but given how "basic" the info is, it does also show that Japan has quite a ways to go even when it comes to general knowledge and awareness, but it seems like they are actually working on it.

What I do find interesting is how large i.e. yuri and BL subcultures are in manga, while at the same time they have some ways to go at a societal level. (Having been there, I can tell you the yuri section at the Animate Ikebukuro main store is big, but the BL section is absolutely gigantic, basically an entire floor)

    Edit:
Fun pointless note on the specific wording I used:
At least in Animate, and a few other (book)shops too (like JUNKUDO), the yuri section is labeled as "百合", so literally "yuri", while yaoi is labeled BL.

I dont want to grow up with a boyish or manly body.. Does anybody else understand this feeling?
Lately, my heart is pounding whenever I'm with her. But let's make sure nobody notices...
I don't know my gender and feel very confused, is it just me?
    Do you know LGBTQ?
Read more about LGBTQ by scanning the QR code here.
There are people close to you who could be experiencing thoughts and events like this who feel alone and don't have anybody to talk to about it. There may be people who are hurt by the words and actions of others.
In recent years, the word LGBTQ has been more and more prominent conversation wise, but how much do you truly know about the group? It's not that they don't have someone willing to listen, it's just that they have various thoughts and unique circumstances that they haven't told anyone about. Let's take this opportunity to learn more about sexual diversity. (City of Kyoto).
