Serious question: has anyone unironically tried this hairstyle irl? How do you even see past your fringe or do your eyes hurt like hell either from straining or the hair just constantly poking you?

I think unless your hair is the exact wrong length, it won't go into your eye. And the brain is actually pretty good at filtering out obstructions close to the eye, like with dirt on glasses. So I think this hairstyle hurts your eyes less than you'd guess.
If you think about it, you see your nose right in front of you all the time (well, most of us). Your brain just knows how to see through it.
Well, the nose is in your blind spot compared to the fringe that's right in your face.
I did something similar for a school event once and after about an hour the back of my eyes hurt from looking down to see where I'm going and trying to see past the "make-up" in front of me.
