I was browsing some old unfinished work, I've got folders of these things, and I got excited about some lingering energy in this particular unfinished piece. This image was started about 2014 when I was trying to get work on Titanfall. So with this unfinished image I put the pen to it and It brought me back to the time I started it. I had spent every free second of two years studying concept art and had just quit a job as a school bus driver. I sold my jeep for a little toyota sedan, loaded it with my stuff and moved to Los Angeles. I was living in stranger's living rooms, and was studying like crazy. Several months in and my savings were running out and even buying food was getting real rough. I thought I was going to fail for sure, have to move back to Arizona or try and get a job waiting tables in Hollywood. Then a few days before I'd reached the bottom of my bank account Shady Safadi brought me onto One Pixel Brush. Love that guy. What followed would be working on so many different studios and IPs with the most amazing people. So flash forward to today as I finish this image I started 7 years ago, as I prepare for another massive life change... I'm leaving Los Angeles, and moving to Colorado to continue my concept art and game there. I guess what stuck out to me is how at the end of this chapter I gravitated to finish an image I started at the beginning of said chapter. I forgot what this felt like, but the old energy was still there waiting for me, waiting to remind me where I come from and why I love what I do.
