From the looks of it Okuu's been severely wounded by the explosion. If we didn't know what Utsuho later becomes it'd probably look like she died.

Now, repeat after me kids: Don't put eggs into microwave. Make sure that your hell-crow friends don't do that either.

My guess as to what happens next: Okuu is seriously, maybe irreversibly injured and the Moriya Shrine folks offer to cure her by giving them the Yatagarasu. Side effects go unmentioned until they happen.

You know, that makes some sense. She emitted radiation after being ''turned into a different being'' with the yatagarasu and ''might give people cancer''. She also sort-of-does the scientist job by maintaining and making the Hisoutensoku move.

Karaagetarou can transition between painfully adorable and painfully tragic with greater speed and skill than even Gensou Koumuten. I keep switching from Utsuho's happy dance to Satori's crying face and can almost feel myself receiving whiplash.

For all the bullshit Touhou fandom produces, it is worth it to watch phenomenal writers like this.
