  • Rick Sternbach's 1992 drawing of DS9. I've always loved the design of the station - the masterstroke was probably adding the arched pylons; it not only helps evolve the shape beyond the standard '2001-style wheel', to me it also implies a 'broken sphere'. If that makes sense!

    I like how it's big on area and low on volume - lots of surface to radiate heat off of, which would be a big thing for an ore refinery.
