If serious on the question, most shippers i know can reduce their argument to "Because they will, OK!", and these aren't the most hardcore of the bunch, the ones chanting victory on 3.0 release and the victory for realism when Rei route was nuked from orbit. The most hardcore are still in denial or waiting for a powerful AI to fix the movie themselves xD
