  • I'm not even talking about the DLC. I'm complaining about base game of ER.
    Its "hard" because of bullshit. its like playing DS1 with Sekiro paced bosses. its simply not fun.

    though.
    ER becomes a 3/10 to an immediate 9/10 with seamless coop and sekiro parry mods.

    Dodging forward or jumping negates A LOT of "Elden Ring is BS" woes.
    Jump has longer invul frames starting waist down so it's very good at dodging the "roll catch shockwave"
    "Vertical delay attacks" can be sprinted to the side
    "20 hit combo" can be cut down to dodging only 5 by dodging forward rather than backwards.
    ER does have a lot of input reads though, I'll grant it that.

    The game just takes getting used to because it wants you to be conservative on offense, but aggressive in positioning.

    I love parrying and it's absolute nonsense how you can't parry all weapon based attacks in elden ring. Also this is centurii they're all girls here

    We need another armored core formula front entry, this time using 6th gen ACs.

    Having another blue nine-ball that has zero relevance to the story on the boxart cover is mandatory.

    Bruh the only hard boss in base game ER is malenia. And yeah while absolutely she falls into all the categories the artist listed, every other boss has those mechanics except toned down by like a hundred. They’re nowhere near as fast, combo’y, (except for maliketh but he has like no health) or have self heal like malenia. That’s what made her so infamous. Giving a 3/10 rating for a game because of a single optional boss is kinda ridiculous.

    Not to mention how insanely satisfying it is to finally get your opponents moveset down and dodge everything they throw at you. The latter half of my attempts at Malenia I managed to pass through phase 1 while taking no damage at all, no matter what she threw at me. I mean you can literally run away from some of her attacks, you don't even need to dodge them. If you know what you're doing, even Waterfowl dance becomes trivial to dodge.

    4 things: High vigor, High DMG, Ironjar aromatic, Endure. Endure is a way OP skill and ye get it at the start in the warmaster's shack. With a build of such things most bosses become trivial, you can even better it and add bleed or other stuff as seen with this example below:

    I am useless at parrying and dodging, sekiro was a hard lesson for me yet it's amazing the options that ER gives you when it comes to damage negation.

    Pretty sure using the only boss where that's a major issue, and saying the game go from 3 to 9 over just the dodging mechanic is just typical "comedic bad faith exaggerating". The actual point is just the artist don't like dodging and prefer parrying.
    Personally, from what little I have played of both game, I've found ER good.

    Pretty sure Centurii stated in a tweet that they just don't like the formula of ER and Dark Souls, and prefers Sekiro's combat over the two. This rendition was meant to be a joke for the most part.

    Most of the stuff here is covered already.

    Other than animation reading (not input reading), a lot of ER enemies have specific attacks they do at specific distances which makes them seemingly look like they have infinite combo since players would often roll into those distances and the enemy is able to chain their attacks. Most of the time, if the player is at a distance where only a specific attack is viable, the enemies would go for those attacks.

    What this means is that enemies' attacks could be gamed and therefore predictable. If you realise this, you can easily make a boss to stop its attack and enter its recovery animation. You can also easily lock an enemy into doing the same attack over and over again. The easiest boss to do this on are the Crucible Chumps.

    It is also the reason why any melee weapon capable of producing projectiles on attack are broken as hell on most melee enemies, since you are most likely to be enggaging them right outside their ideal melee distance.
