Of all Uni-mate's works, this series is the most emotional for me. Sanae first struck out to me as a "holier-than-thou" egoist with a skewed view of superiority in early series, so much I wished for nothing but delicious karma handed down on her. But from her interactions with the native goddesses, we can see that her behavior is due strict teachings of her guardians (At least from one).

From befriending the Aki sisters to defending the place, she managed to climb up from being despicable to lovable.

Of course, this friendship might have a rough future with Suwako around, but what's important is that the sisters are still treating her as a friend.

This is all there is so far.

Bright Future 7 is on the way, and I suspect more of the Shangri-la/El Dorado series too but he hasn't announced anything yet.

Curious...Suwako seemed far less unreasonable elsewhere (though she was a bit brusque in "Shangri-La"), and suddenly she's a ruthless religious expansionist. And I'm still trying to figure out the artist's take on Cirno. Her bizarre intellectualism, the Humanist rants, and now the almost communist approach to personal ownership of anything that comes from Nature...

Anyway, another great story/pool. Thanks for all your efforts.

It must of all been a ploy to get Sanae to open her heart!

Well, particularly given what we've seen of Suwako and (early) Sanae in this volume, Cirno's "we don't need the gods" bit in A Bright Future 5 becomes a lot more understandable. That doesn't tell us who started the mutual antagonism, of course - it could have been either side - but I sympathise more with Cirno's position now.

I still don't like Team 9 robbing the Aki sisters' crops (and I'm particularly disappointed in Flan for going along with it), but you could be right, and Cirno might honestly believe her "blessing of nature belong to everyone" line. I think her reaction to Daiyousei finding the honey in post #779175 indicates otherwise, though.

There's probably a simpler explanation for her robbery. Cirno & Co. live in what could be generously called a shack under a bridge, and Cirno usually doesn't even have enough money to buy 10 yen's worth of bread crusts.

Crazy yet oddly intelligent ranting & preaching doesn't seem to pay the bills in the modern Gensokyo.

So we had Flan breaking out of the solitude thingy, Sakuyas resolve and now Sanae's resolve. as well as other events suck as Crino day. who's next, Suwako and her drooling Pyonta having a story?

Really interesting story. Nice to see a suitable and very nice story for Sanae within this little contuinity, along with the awesomeness that is more Aki work.

Thinking back to Cirno's role here a bit...it's probably partially her situation and partially actual thinking. Given her situation, being unable to buy bread crust even, it's almost understandable to see her try and snatch some free food. At the same time, she seems to be a very progressive, odd thinker here, albeit in the opposite vein of Suwako(All for one vs. Progression by one). Maybe in her ideal Gensokyo, everybody simply shares things based on needs(Like them needing food...).

Alternately, Cirno might just be a little nutters in the head.

Suwako is interesting too...a very huge bitch, so far at least, but I kind of wonder about her reasoning given what she says. She seems to be oddly stoic, progressive in an opposite vein to Cirno and somewhat...I dunno..."detatched". The most interesting part I thought was the part about "uncertainty in the human heart" and Gods' losing focus. I just dunno where to go with it.

Can't wait for more to come out. I really should hurry to put this on TV Tropes, wasn't on early today unfortunately...

Reimu's resolve next please, just because the mystery of her constant scratching is gnawing at my common sense. (seriously, in all of Reimu's previous appearances throughout the other series as well, was there once she WASN'T scratching herself?)

She's most probably referring to Sanae's status as a living god. Perhaps to her, a human heart will just bog her down in achieving godhood. That's why the former Sanae is a total jerk.

Still, it's interesting with the contrasts between Sanae's guardians. From what we see in Shangri-La, Kanako seems to be the open-minded one who will not hesitate to ask for help from the native goddesses (And give her thanks afterward to boot), while Suwako is quick to shove them aside and persist with her own superiority.

i noticed suwako seems to have a tadpole tail, so maybe suwako will grow up a bit and be more mature and less a dick

They're a nice contrast from the typical depictions in fanon, where Kanako is usually the strict, militaristic expansionist and Suwako is more easygoing, communal and friendly to others.
