Its probably on purpose. Even the one who rasied is the creator and ruler of hell how could you not love her? Some of these are quite ingenius, especially cirno's.
Also...is that an Asura for Youmu's sign? Wow, i always did think she was overpowered in the touhou fighting game but I didn't expect something like that but i guess it does fit her with all that "If I don't understand it i'll just cut it". I thought her sign would be a sword cross with a ghost so it is quite unexpected.

I've been thinking this for a long time as well. Before I got to notice they were little dolls, to me it just seemed like a demented bull, or a demon's face. But still, a demon's face out of Shanghai dolls sounds badass as fuck. That seal and Cirno's are the best of all these.
When I look at Meiling's emblem, I can't help but wonder what it looks like un-swirled -- the streaks of white in it gives me the impression that it might look like something other than random colors, but that might just be my imagination running wild.

I think it's supposed to look like a rainbow going through a lens. Like when you look into the lens of a camera, it'll have that kind of effect to it. I dunno.

Now I want China to scream Taste the Rainbow! everytime she throws something in swirly colors.
