ドイツが開発した双子爆撃機。
「ヤドリギ」の通称どおり、有人の小型戦闘機と特殊な改造を施した爆撃機などの大型機を連結し目標付近まで飛行、然る後に無人機を切り離して目標に突入させるという兵器でした。
Ju88などの大型機を改造した無人機には1.8tの弾頭が搭載され、さらに形成炸薬弾まで準備され、対象に甚大な被害を与える事が出来ました。しかし制空権の確保もままならなくなっていた当時では満足な戦果を上げる事無く終戦を迎えたのです。

Artist's commentary

DFS Mistel is a German-developed twin bomber.
As its popular name, "mistletoe," suggests, this was a weapon whereby a piloted small fighter aircraft was connected to a larger craft such as a specially-adapted bomber, and flown to the targeted area, where an unmanned craft was detached and aimed at the target.
The large unmanned crafts such as the remodeled Ju 88 were equipped with 1.8t (3,960lb) of warheads, and also carried shaped charges, which were able to inflict enormous damage on the target. However, the war ended without them achieving satisfying military gains, at a time when a guarantee of air superiority was beyond control.
