Really? That's surprising! I've heard of people who didn't like the first, 3rd or forth. Usually it's the divide between old and new persona fans. But to single out P2 is rather uncommon.
Especially since P2 mostly built of of it's predessecor which is usually considered an inferior product (though I love them all!)
I can honestly say I don't LIKE the summoning part of 4. But all in all, I fucking /love all the games/. I don't even care if 1 is 'inferior,' I started the series with it, I love the hell out of it.
And it, too, surprises me that someone doesn't like the 2nd game. But that's opinion and taste, I personally enjoyed Nylarly in those games. (Then again, seeing Guido going down in a zeppelin was very satisfying...)

I'm in a similar camp, while I have my shares of criticisms I could make of any of Megaten's games (the early ones especially). I do it only out of love for them. I love all of the persona games and even if Persona 1 is somewhat unpolished, I still enjoyed it greatly.
It's for that reason that I don't often involve myself in discussions over what games are better. I like them regardless.
