If I may comment, gensokoumuten's idea that things "forgotten" in our current world end up in gensokyo (and the other related fantasy worlds) is really.. romantic. Also, there are literally a hundred thousand different technological advancements, entire peoples, customs, ways of life from the distant past from which we currently have no idea ever existed. Maybe they are all here too, somewhere.

Of course, you could say that unless this gensokyo exists in year 13,200 of our modern world (but it shouldn't, reimu etc. are there, and the timeline of "canon" gensokyo follows our own) even if a model of train or something leaves use, it isn't forgotten - modern world with interenet, books and fans of every thing under the sun "forgets" nothing - wikipedia article of 0-series would survive until the crash of our civilization.

Of couse, it's awesome, so it doens't matter.

Much like the romanticism of the series in general, I think a more romantic use of "forgotten" is at work here. Just as modern Japan still has information on and believers in the supernatural, these things were "forgotten" enough that they entered Gensokyo. Likewise, even though the Series 0 will likely never be completely 100% forgotten, it's left public awareness in a way that permits it to enter Gensokyo.

    That's what I think, anyways.

It's based in canon; see Rinnosuke's comments on the appearance of the Crested Ibis in CoLA. As with the Series 0 here, it's not being forgotten that's the key point, but being considered imaginary (ie, "not real"): as with steam locomotives, lots of people know about them, but they're no longer a "real" thing that you'd actually see on the railways.

This is also the key point in the development of Gensou Koumuten's version of Gensokyo, as mentioned in post #798607. In 2008 (a mere few months before this story, in fact), when Lehman Brothers collapsed, a large chunk of the world's wealth and economic development was proved to be, basically, imaginary...

If this is Gensokyo, then imagine what the outside world must be like.

Pretty much. But if read post #798607 right it was a lot more severe. Rin said that entire cities were forgotten,

    MIND BLOWN

Also, if Nazrin is here, doesn't that lend credence to it being Ichirin and Unzan on the previous page?

Also, there's a dancing sunflower on the left side of that big panel.

Well, if we really want to, we can say this is an alternate reality where everyone in the outside world went EXTINCT, can we? (Actually, that would be a really interesting story...)

Anyway, all the characters' powers are pretty vague, so I suppose how the world works could be left to imagination, too.

...I want a story where humanity outside Gensokyo has been completely wiped out.

Well, @jongyon7192p, if you're still here six years later and you're still looking for such a thing, here it is.
