Homeworld ships gone moe...I'm getting pretty close to having seen everything.

...that is the mothership, being fired upon by a Vaygr battlecruiser.

Those battle cruisers where awesome. I always liked the Vaygrs over the Higgarans.

At first glance, I thought it was a Kushan mothership being fired upon by a Taiidan carrier. I never played Homeworld 2, so I haven't seen the Vaygr ships, but for some reason, I think the sequel would be a letdown compared to the first game, the very first truly 3D strategic game...

The sequal (HW2) Is actually great! It succeeds, improves, and simplifies the original one! Still, wonderful to make your own desktop backgrounds using screen-cap.

I highly prefer Homeworld: Cataclysm and Homeworld 2 to the original, but that's mostly due to the lessening and removal of fuel restrictions, the introduction of the free camera in HW2, and especially the ship grouping system. I find the original very tedious to micromanage on both a tactical and resource level. Admittedly, you have to be absolutely terrible at the game to have any kind of resource trouble halfway through the HW2 plot, but I don't mind that.

Indeed. The main challenge becomes build times at that point, which I suppose is a good and bad thing.
