Has someone who just very recently jumped head first into this whole Touhou business, this comic still manages to amuse me to no end.
The art is simple but adorable and the writing is very witty. I really must commend the artist in making what seems like doodles at first sight to be so remarkably expressive. Every single panel is delightful in that sense.
On a side note, love the detail of Meiling knotting her hair before the work out section.
Last, but certainly not the least, my most sincere gratitude to the translator for making this gem understandable to those without a clue of moonspeak.

Welcome to the world of Karaagetarou. We encourage you to go through all his earlier work on here, too.

Yes, I agree with you Arremer, in my opinion Karaagetarou is one of the best artists around, both art-wise and story-wise. It's my strong belief that simplicity is a mark of great artists.

Out of stupid curiosity, does anyone know if Karaagetarou is male or female? Not that it matters, but I get a distinct female feel from her/his works, in the art, character mannerisms and attention to details.

And as always, many thanks to the translators.

Oh, duh. I was reading it as 人気は人気を呼んで and trying to shoehorn it into some variation of "call a spade a spade". Thank you.

He doesn't seem to have stated his gender officially anywhere online, but the "Tarou" of "Karaagetarou" is a typical male name, and he uses the male personal pronoun "boku" on Twitter, so my guess would be that he's a guy.

And it's a very respectable belief. I wish more artists nowadays followed that. Designers mostly, to be precise.
I like some elaborate art and designs as much as the next guy (on our Touhou subject, I love the art in Koumajou Densetsu) but some times the simple stuff is just what the doctor ordered.
To be entirely honest, and despite it being slightly more complex than Karaagetarou's works, it was the simple charm of hounori's art that drew me into Touhou.
On a final note, I forget mentioning before but, the levels of kyoot on the calisthenics' rollcall is just off the charts. :3

I couldn't agree more. It's not that I don't appreciate intricate works too, on the contrary; but if the artist has the ability to express more with less, I see them in a different light. Oh, and I really like hounori too!

The Honk Honk Man? Art's a little rough around the edges, but I admit I find his works very amusing. It spawned some funny edits as well.
Anyway, since we're at it, I simply must mention koyama_shigeru of Mamange fame. I'd dare say he's the master of Disgusting Adorable Touhou.
And now we have dora_e, whose style bears a striking resemblance to hounori's.
Finally, one I tend to forget is baku_taso, author of many adorable Tewi antics.
Stupid Touhou and all the great artists working on it! I couldn't overlook it even if I wanted to! :)

I can't stop laughing at "The Honk Honk Man".

    Welcome to the fandom!

Let me toss another one at you, Shino. "She" has several series on here and the oldest would be The Yakumos, pool #1728 though things don't get epic till the Sisters Scarlet show up in later pools.

You're much to kind. I'm honored to know I got my little moment of humour. I must confess that for the most part I love reading the comments on this site. People here come up with very amusing and insightful observations.
And thanks for the suggestion. I found the story with the mistresses getting kicked out quite amusing.

I've taken Moonspeaker's recommendation to read Karaagetarou's earlier works and it was definitely worth it. Good stories and adorable art all the way! It was also interesting to see how his art evolved.

Awesome, glad you enjoyed it. Aside from other names already mentioned, I would also recommend Colonel_aki for the goofy slapstick of his "Life of a Maid" series, and just about anything by Gensoukoumuten for a great mix of tension, heartwarming and epic. Gensou Koumuten (I prefer to include a space for ease of reading, but the artist tag parses it as one word) definitely falls into the "more detail" camp, but it definitely doesn't hurt.

I usually catch some "Life of a Maid" strips during my daily scavenging, but never heard Gensou Koumuten before. *takes note*
I'm a little bummed that with all these great artists and few barely give the Eientei gang (faves) any attention. The SDM group is a clsose second and they're definitely comedy gold material, so I guess it's all good.

Ahh... well, let me suggest "Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth" to you then. Very cute and funny series focusing on the two Reisen's and Tewi, mostly. It's sort of the comedic counterpoint to sister series "Silent Sinner in Blue". Both series are actually cannon works, with Zun working with a manga-ka to produce them. Neither are on this site in any complete form but you can find them here: http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Inaba_of_the_Moon_and_Inaba_of_the_Earth

Gotta admit Colonel aki was the first one that hooked me up here at Danbooru, now there are so many artists I eagerly wait for another of their work
    By the way...
Impressed how my favorites artists are everybody favorites too
    ...
Well... not that impressed since great artists always makes great works >=D
Currently thinking if we are missing any great artist here...

    The Shadow,
    I'll check it out. Thanks!
With the fan arts, manga, strips and the doujin albums, I'm "Touhoued" to the gills right now!

    MessingPower,
If you permit the audacity of a newb to the fandom, I would add ario and houtengeki, though I admit I am heavily biased towards Ario's Yuugis and Houtengeki's sexy alternate costumes and slightly toned physiques. Also, they happened to be among the first Touhou fan artists to catch my attention, after Hounori.
There's also sankuma if you don't mind the mildly plump girls.
And a special mention to azusa; while he hasn't got much Touhou stuff, the artist is definitely skilled.

Man, that's why I love danbooru. So much priceless information and endless interesting debate.

I guess I was late to recommend koyama_shigeru, but I guess that I'll join his ranks of fans. In fact, I'd seen Touhou before in many places, but what critically drawed my attention towards it was the PV "Watashi wa anata ga ii no desu", drawn entirelly by koyama. Which I, in turn, recommend. Heartwarming as hell.
