Dude, the ship is a small and very fast and maneuverable SPACE destroyer. And it doesn't shot torpedoes through those tubes, it shoots missiles...

And my point is that the ship is supposed to save space as much as possible for its small size, that's why those tubes are there. The rest of the structure is occupied by crew, fuel, energy cells, weaponry, sensor arrays, engines and machinery. Its main defense is supposed to be its speed...
