According to the Pixiv comments, this happened to Mizuki several years ago on New Year's. Getting such bad service that early in the year was apparently a sign of how the rest of the year would treat him. (That was the same year he threw away the money at Comic Market .)

Yeah, what westerners think as a "tip" is usually already added into the bill, so that's what it is.

Honestly, this stopped being funny and started being sad. If something like this happened in the west, folks would have gotten hell for it.

Eh... see this very comment thread for people complaining that this happened to them, and I don't think all them live in the east.

Point is, sometimes you leave your bed to find all the planets aligned against you.

Is it just me or are there multiple errors in these two strips? Seems like Kogasa's bowl was full in the previous strip, and it didn't have a cover until panel 4 of this one (not sure if she got 2 bowls though). As for her 'missing' fried chicken, the 4th page of the previous strip shows something brown on her main plate that could be it.

Maybe I should just roll with it.

I suffer the same once, so....KOGASA, DON'T GIVE HER TIP!!

remember, they took the meal back to replace it in this comic. panel 2 is when they get the meal but realize, no soup, so they are gonna take the whole thing back and try again.

Well it's true that there is no such "tip" in most Asian countries. However I once went to Hong Kong (I'm Vietnamese) and ate some noodles. "Tip: 10 hkd" was on the receipt.

I remember in the Philippines when my mom tried to tip a driver who drove us to a restaurant, when we left the restaurant we somehow got the same driver who then tried to give us back the tip.

an earlier comment said tips were calculated into the final bill tally. So it being a Misc. charge on the bill would be the norm. They mean a services tip for the waitress, a note stuck under a plate when they clear the table if you will.

Tips being seen as obligatory is mostly an American thing anyways...
