Finally I can share this one, thus far my most favorite work. From the moment I got the brief, I already have a perfect idea in my mind about the pose, lighting, composition, and how he should look.

The pose follows the original sprite from the NES version. Even though I'm tempted to add a sword, ultimately I decided on the current one. The design also has to follow the original. So I got to add my own rendition of the armor, translated from the limited details of the sprite.

I hope you like this artwork, as much as the fun I had in making it.
