Is that really the geyser or an avalanche? From the way I see it, it looks more like an avalanche, note that Kogasa's speech bubble is coming from under that thing.

Indeed. That's most probably just a hunk of snow that fell off from some surface above, tree or roof, disturbed by the sound.

...I doubt Ran could throw that much snow with a shovel at once...
