失敗に次ぐ失敗、惨憺たる結果にため息をつく。
淹れ直したコーヒーを飲む。
歩く。
違う材料を思いつく。
喜び勇んで調達、実験、そして失敗。
「もしかしたら、そんなものはこの世にないのかも」
「電球を点し続けることは、永遠にできないのかも」
そんな思いを抱く――押し殺す。
まだたった８０００、世界には万を超える材料が
存在する。それら全てを確かめ、それでもダメなら
新しい材料を発明する。
積み重ねて積み重ねて、不安を振り切り走り続ける。

「さて次は？　日本のバンブーとな？」

Failure after failure.
I heave a sigh at the pathetic results.
I drink my reheated coffee.
I go for a walk.
I think of a different material.
In high spirits, I secure some.
Experiment.
Another failure.
"Perhaps such a thing doesn't exist in this world."
"Perhaps a light bulb can never stay lit."
I embrace the thought... then crush the life from it.
I'd only tried 8,000 so far.
There are more than 10,000 other materials in this world.
I'll try them all, and if I can't find something that works, I'll discover a new one.
As my doubts piled up, I shook them off as I walked.

"Now, what's next? Perhaps Japanese bamboo?"
