I'm not sufficiently aware of Japanese horse racing or pedigrees to know why Tokai Teio would be so invested in the 2024 Autumn Tenno Sho, so if anyone else is aware, please feel free to chime in. I'm guessing though that it involves one or more of his IRL descendants.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it has to do with Lebensstil, whose damsire is Teio

That makes sense. Looking at Lebensstil's record, he had won 2 graded races (G2 and G3) before that Tenno Sho, but hadn't yet won a single G1 (and still hasn't).

IIRC he and Liberty were hyped as rivals to Do Deuce at the time... Unfortunately that didn't come to pass :/
