Okina Matara is a secret god of many faces. She’s an Earth Mother Goddess, a god of Noh, a god of stars, and a god of silkworm breeding, to name a few. She is also one of the sages who created Gensokyo. Okina can show up anywhere with her back doors, and she boasts control over vitality and mental energy. It’s rumored that she lends her power to her staunch believers but shows no mercy to those who oppose her.

Seiga Kaku is a wicked hermit who is looked down on by Heaven. Having attained the secret of eternal youth, she always looks young and beautiful. Her father abandoned his family to seclude himself in the mountains, so perhaps it was fate that, like father like daughter, Seiga abandoned her own family to become a hermit.

Okina and Seiga met to discuss the latest happenings in Gensokyo. “Lady Miko has returned,” stated Seiga. “I know. I was watching,” replied Okina. Seiga knew how exceptionally skilled Miko was in swaying the hearts and minds of her subjects. So, now that Miko had returned, she was worried that the same thing might happen to the humans of Gensokyo. But Okina brushed her concerns aside with a chuckle. “A change of heart usually doesn’t change much more than that.”

“Yes, I suppose you’re right,” replied a relieved Seiga. Now that Miko had returned, she no longer had to protect the mausoleum. She could do whatever she wished. On a whim, Seiga picked up a fallen leaf lying near her foot and blew it into the wind. “So, what are you going to do now?” With a self-assured grin, Okina took a step forward before replying…

“I want to find some successors for my two servants.” “Interesting…” “But before that, I have to make sure everyone knows I exist. Everyone must know that Gensokyo has a secret god.” Hearing Okina speak so passionately made Seiga want to tease her a little. “There’s an easy solution for that, you know. You could do the same thing as Lady Miko…” “Haha. Good idea. It seems it might be my turn to cause a little incident of my own.” Okina unfolded her arms and purposefully walked away.
