True, but the part about her being an utter failure of a guard is one the fanon invented. She can in fact still do her guard duty while sleeping thanks to her Chi usage.

In fact, its specifically stated that sometimes she will let the others inside the mansion know there are intruders so Remilia can watch her stomp them for sh*ts and giggles! Marisa (and Reimu) are the only people who have ever broken in.

The whole thing about Meiling being a bad gate guard is still completely made up by the fans. She does take a nap at noon, but she is still very serious about her job, repelling most intruders.
