You know, Koa's face in the last panel might be the simplest troll face ever, yet it's quite effective.

Possibly referencing the story about a general lying to his thirsty soldiers about a forest full of ripe plums ahead of them, in order to make them force march.

Pickled plums are, of course, incredibly salty. Presumably, thinking hard about them would make one salivate, thus moistening the throat without actually getting something to drink.
