It might be because I don't know much about it, but why is it so weird Kogasa proposed in front of Sanae's parents?

i'm unsure here so :

Normally, in japan, you first ask the parents to marry their daughter/son

If they agree, then only can you ask your significant other.

Kogasa asked Kanako one strip ago and got permission, but it seems Suwako doesn't know about this.

Now I understand what this "new series" is--events leading up to Hitoshi and Sanae's actual wedding. (Think the longsword, axe, and/or gladius will make a return appearance?)

Yet even with Sanae's accession, I just KNOW there will be plenty of points where Kanako will be considering "fitting" Kogasa with shimenawa...Kogasa's neck, anyway.

I foresee the return of Reimu and Marisa, at least.

If we don't see wedding planning shenanigans I'm going to be greatly disappointed.

In the last two panels of the previous strip, Hitoshi asked Sanae-wife's father for permission to marry his daughter. Then Sanae shows up and says that this wasn't the reason she brought Hitoshi to her house.

In a way, Hitoshi was finally 100% committed to do it and then Sanae-wife suddenly ruins the moment.

Thinking about what could progress in this "unto-the-wedding" series...

--Hitoshi tries to arrange for an outdoor wedding. Notos's "affection" for him kind of ruins that.
--Reimu and Marisa blurt out Hitoshi's "dark secret"...in Kanako's presence.
--Remilia tries to arrange for the wedding to occur near "that" museum.
--The wedding gets charted at the same time as a major convention. Cue the angst...

I hope we get to learn exactly WHY the Sanae-wife likes beating Hitoshi
