"Uchuu Ginga-Tai (Intergalactic) Star Command" was a line of plastic toy-model kits released by Imai Kagaku Co., Ltd. in 1978. It capitalized on the popularity of the first Star Wars movie, which was released in Japan that same year.

A defining trait of the line was the immense effort put into minimizing production costs. This resulted in little variation between the robot soldier figures, aside from minor parts such as their faces. Similarly, the larger mecha were simply clones of mecha from other series (such as the "MAC-KI 1" of Ultraman Leo and Imai's original mecha "Renketsu (Linked) Tank Crawler") re-released with their names changed.

    Here's the box description:

The Galactic Republic, located many light years away from our home, was a nation friendly towards the people of planet Earth.

One day, the Earth Defense Force's radars picked up an SOS signal coming from the region of the Galactic Republic: "On December 10, 2978, Invader, ruler of the Galactic Empire, along with his legions of fearsome robots, launched an attack on the Galactic Republic. We have taken grave damages, thanks to the imperial stormtroopers, and our forces are in great peril. Dearest citizens of Earth, we need your help!"

Immediately, the leaders of the Earth Defense Force called for a global summit, pulling together Earth's greatest minds to find a way to assist the Galactic Republic. Two of the countries, "US" (America) and "G" (Germany), decided to dispatch the super radio-controlled galactic defense corps known as Star Command. Led by Commander VR-1, they raced across the universe. Were they able to save the Galactic Republic? What mighty adventures will unfold across this great universe in the fight for justice?
