Why would you people assume Koa destroyed the book? as far I remember all Koa has been doing to Patchy is simple trolling, she never did any harm aside of the mental one

All the anguish and doubt she was going through made it seem that she couldn't just return the book. I guess the anguish was her struggling against her urge to be a troll.
And some say that Koa's heart grew one and a half sizes that day?
I am sickeningly relieved that the book is in one piece.
And I feel horrifyingly bad for how long Koa tortured herself about it if she never actually destroyed it, and for how long Patchy went through the despair :<

Fear of punishment/retaliation can warp one's judgment quite badly, it seems.
In before Patchy glomptackles Koa and the book, joyfully exclaiming something along the lines of "Oh thank God you found it! Thank you thank you thank you! Where was it?" whilst Koa spontaneously combusts out of shame.
This was the easy part. Now you have to explain where the hell it was the whole time.
I think Patchy's going to be angry. But hopefully she realize that Koa had no evil intentions when she took it, and decides to forgive her with minimal punishment. After all, Koa does feel really bad about it.
Looking back on it, it might've been best if Koa had just lied and said she borrowed it out of personal interest back when she first found Patchouli crying in the library. Sure, Patchy would've been mad then too, but at least the emotional damage for both of them would've been minimalized.
Oh, and, I was joking earlier, but I guess she really did hide it under her skirt.
I'm still sticking to reverse trolling by Patchi like I said last strip but for some reason last panel gives me the feeling Koa will be the cute emotional character from now on that does everything to keep Patchi happy.

Because I was paid to steer suspicions into that alley and post a prediction several pages back with other goons. That's what jongleurs do.
