My gun-ology isn't very strong so I'm stuck on one thing: what the hell is that lower tube for? It can't be a second barrel, unless that's an over-under double-barrel that chambered for two different guages, I don't figure it can be a magazine like on a pump-action for much the same reason (and I can't spot a pump).

I feel like I'm getting Mai-trolled just through that incomprehensible bit of hardware, my god.

My gun-fu tends to be weak too, but I think those are sometimes used for holding cleaning rods on guns that aren't muzzle loaders (where it holds the ramming rod).

Looks a little big for that, but I'll buy it just to make it stop bugging me, damn.

Mixing a shotgun with a rifle under it totally exists. Useful when you're hunting one big game, and then another predator decides you'd be tasty.

I was going to say that at first, but the lack of trigger made me try to think of what else it could be.
