A character's variant wearing the clothes of another variant of their own, such as a magical girl's civilian identity wearing her magical girl identity's clothes.
Usually done when both variants have a recognizable hairstyle and/or hair color, so it's clear that the clothes they're wearing doesn't match the hair. The Precure franchise has an unofficial term for this, which is "midform".
Similar to fusion and split theme, but instead of merging, the character looks more like they simply changed clothes.
If instead, the hairstyle doesn't match the state of the body, it might be a self-borrowed hairstyle.
