The original Nintendo Game Boy, released in 1989 as a followup to the Game & Watch handhelds. This model is recognizable for its dot-matrix screen, light gray color, and size. While less powerful than its competitors, the Sega Game Gear and Atari Lynx, its much longer battery life and popular games such as Tetris led the Game Boy to become one of the best selling video game consoles of all time, only being discontinued in 2003.
