Edit
One of the three principal ancient Egyptian pyramids at Giza, built as the tomb of the Fourth Dynasty Pharaoh Khafre (reigned ca. 2558–2532 BC), whose name is also somettimes rendered "Chephren" in English. The Pyramid of Khafre is slightly smaller than the Great Pyramid of Khufu, his father, but looks larger from most angles because it stands on higher ground, so is often mistaken for the Great Pyramid in photo captions. It is distinguishable by the fact that some of its smooth outer cladding still exists near the peak.
