A distinctive style of braid that twists the hair when braiding, resembling a rope.
"Rope braid" usually refers to a two strand twist, where two strands of hair are twisted together, as it is the most iconic. However, variants using other numbers of strands also exist. For example, a three strand twist is a braid where three strands of hair are twisted together. Occasionally a single strand of twisted hair can also result in a similar look. These are not always distinguishable by eye. Most examples of rope braid in art will be two strand twists.
