Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a mobile gacha game developed and published by Cygames featuring horse girls based on famous racehorses.
The game was first announced in 2016 and was initially slated for a Fall 2018 release, only for development to start out from scratch; with the ultimate release date pushed back to Febuary 2021. An English version of the game released on June 26, 2025. A party game spinoff, Umamusume: Party Dash, was released in 2024.
The franchise received several anime adaptations, with the first season featuring Special Week as the protagonist, which began airing before the game's official release in Spring 2018, it was followed by a second season featuring Tokai Teio launching alongside the game in Winter 2021, and a third season featuring Kitasan Black airing in late 2023. A spinoff featuring Narita Top Road was aired for Spring 2023. The third season premiered in Fall 2023, followed by an anime film centered on Jungle Pocket in May 2024. An anime adaptation of the manga Umamusume: Cinderella Gray is currently broadcasting as of 2025.
There is also the Umayon spinoff, which was a 4koma manga that was adapted into an anime short in 2020, and the Umayuru spinoff which was released directly on the Umamusume's YouTube channel in Fall 2022.
