rare (company)
A British video game developer company, also known as Rare Ltd. Founded in 1985, Rare became a successful developer, making games both for third-party properties, as well as creating their own.
With a partnership with Nintendo, they were responsible for the Donkey Kong Country games. Later bought by Microsoft, they continued creating games well into the Xbox 360 generation.
