Irish-bred, English-trained racemare. A successful racer, notorious for claiming the Grade 1 Aral-Pokal while pregnant. She would later be exported to Japan and have a prolific career as a broodmare, being the mother of both Black Tide (who in turn would sire Kitasan Black) and, most famously, Deep Impact, a Triple Crown winner and leading sire in Japan for 11 years.

As of December, 2025, Wind In Her Hair is impressively still alive, at the age of 34, and resides in Northern Horse Park. This outstanding lifespan means she sadly outlived her greatest child (Deep Impact having tragically passed away in 2019), but also lived to witness her great-great-grandchildren - as Equinox, a son of Kitasan Black, had his first crop of foals be born in early 2025.
