Well I don't think the translator get the idea... Actually 红buff is a term in LOL which you get it from killing an specific NPC monster and it gives you a buff on max HP and HP regeneration rate. (I don't play LOL though, only watch my roommates playing it.)

Smite has that too, but the buffs give boosts to speed, mana regen/cooldown reduction, and the most sought after buff, red, increases damage.

I'm guessing it's the sharing of a red buff to the enemy team. The DOTs and that hindering movement..

The "red buff" here means the person in question is going to get status:hurt or status:death. Obviously used against people one strongly disagrees with or dislikes, eg. someone talking smack about your waifu or "greeting" your mother.
