About the topic itself, I remember someone argue Yukkuri into a modern youkai mythos. A tsukumogami, a tsurubebi, or a nurarihyon, for example.
The nurarihyon is quite appropriate, to be honest. Some of their oldest behavior involves them bullying into other people's houses, and eating their food, while declaring that house their own, even to the owner's face. Being mistaken as the owner of the house (nurarihyon) is not very different from being mistaken as the Touhou character they resemble and being treated accordingly, either. Some stories have Yukkuri causing existential dilemmas between different Touhou characters because they actually resemble those Touhou characters and are some times treated like them in substitute (even us; part of the Eientai and SDM stories involve mistaking Remirya or Teruyo as Remilia or Kaguya, respectively, for the purposes of humor).
Ssz...But still...Are they an endangered species?Flutter Flutter FlutterAnd what would this be, I wonder?Limpidyyy#1635 Endangered SpeciesTypo: Should've been 絶滅危惧種 instead of 説滅危惧種....The population of Yukkuris is quite small, so please take good care of them.As there are so few of these beings, it can be agreed that they will become extinct with enough shortages.Besides, the grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence.
