Kaga? For actual wartime contributions in IJN CVs, nothing came close to the Shoukaku-class. Everyone else got dropped out of the picture way too early (Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu, Soryu) or arrived way too late (Unryuu-class, Taiho), or didn't show up at all (Shinano). For 2 years Shokaku-class were the only Fleet CVs against the ever growing USN Fast Carrier Task Force that got more, newer carriers with larger air wings loaded with newer, higher performing aircraft crewed by more and more experienced aircrews who were supported by the best logistics of any nation in the war.
Kantai Collection puts Akagi and Kaga on a high pedestal and disregarding the fact that there were 4 other Fleet Carriers in the glory days of the Kido Butai, disregarding the fact that Shokaku-class was the backbone of the carrier force for practically the entire war.
Only Tanaka glorifies torpedo cruisers and kaga. She was an already outdated design by the time they had to sortie her, only to die first in Midway. Not sure why they tought it was a good idea to make them op ingame.

Well yeah thats obvious, but I was wondering if he had a legit reason just for her, maybe he had family working aboard of her in the past. When you think of Japan, you think of Mikasa,Wakamiya, Fusou,Houshou,Zuikaku or Yukikaze, at least thats what I believe.

It might have something to do with the exaggerated propaganda that have promoted Akagi and Kaga to legendary status for the Japanese. Also, when I think of Japan, I thought of Yamato, carriers and battle of Midway. It is possible living in different environment lead to different impression on certain subject.

I suspect it's due to how they were made first game wise and didn't acount for Kai Ni boosts and their popularity (Kaga and Akagi are pretty popular) by the point they did introduce Kai Nis made adjusting them for Kai Nis probmatic as it'd involve some pretty big nerfs. It's actually a common thing in MMOs

Indeed, don't forget that the IJN already loss a lot of their veteran pilots as well as the dwindling resources.
