Yes it's old. It also spawned a shitstorm of epic proportions in the Nasuverse fandom. I'm lucky enough to have experienced this only through secondhand information, but I imagine the problem was the question of power levels between Servants and the Tsukihime characters or something inane like that.

Basically the problem was that even with his eyes Shiki should not be able to kill a servent, letalone Berserker. Of course then you get the people with massive hardons for Shiki trying to debate that he could soo do it! etc.
obviously the creator of this doujin didn't bother himself of using canon sources. Mystic eyes do have their flaws, if the concept of the target is too 'alien' or (in this case has a a great divine mystery to back itself up), for the user. then he won't be able to see the lines/points on it. (in addition, since mystic eyes are in fact single manouvre magic spells(can be activated on a instant), it would be very difficult to see dots/lines on a object that has high magic resistance (aka: people like saber, rider (lower than saber but still very high, add divine mystery to this and shiki won't be able to see anything) And this is just one reason why he can't see lines/dots on servant. The other reason is: Because servants are given form by violations of the rules of Gaia, the world doesn't recognise them as 'real' or 'existing'. This results in the world trying to 'make things right'by ending/removing them. Again going with the flaws of the 'mystic eyes of death' that they can't kill what in nature does not exist. (example tataria does not exist, so it can't be killed) So since servants do not exist (law of nature) lines/dots can not be seen.
So what about Ryougi Shiki's eyes then? How does that exactly work since Tohno Shiki can only kill something that actually exists in this world while Ryougi can apparently kill things even non-existent (e.g. ghosts).
Sorry if I never read the Kara no Kyoukai light novels since I watched the movies instead.
But yeah, doesn't really make sense for Shiki to just kill Berserker. I wonder if this will be explained by later doujins? Either way it's not such a bad read for me as of right now, but still presents too many problems when you try to merge these series together
Actually even Ryougi Shiki can't kill something that does not exist according the laws of nature. In order to kill it has to exist first. Since a Tataria is a phenomenon that doesn't exist according to nature it can't be killed. Further there are entities and objects that even doesn't have a 'fated' destruction. Since mystic eyes of peception work by showing you the fated destruction of it, these enitities/objects won't have death lines/dots (example: the aristoles; ORT, death apostle n 5 ; arcueid at a full moon; most of the noble phantasm's have the tendence of being industructible like excaliber, avalon, Durandel, etc. If a weapon couldn't be destroyed in the past it's highly unlickely that they could be destroyed now, especially 'ancient' ones. Botomline said: destroying a noble phantasm with mystic eyes isn't going to be easy, and higher rank ones would be impossible to destroyed.
Tohno can only see lines if he knows the concept of death of such. That's why he only could see lines on inanimate objects at the finale.
Ryougi however, her 3rd personality is directly linked to Akasha, isn't she? That personality would know everything, that's why she could see lines on Araya, even though he wasn't human, he was becoming a phenomenon. (Being able to merge with that building and make it as if it was his own Reality Marble)
TL;DR, Tohno can't kill Servants, Ryougi might be able to, at least if her 3rd Personality is in control.
Why does type moon turn into power levels at a drop of a hat? Is it the frequent creator-endorsed crossovers? Even Touhou doesn't stir up a shitstorm this easy.
