Hmmm....Although, on one hand, I agree that this is pretty offensive I also feel that was suppose to be the point of drawing this. That whole debacle with that artist being flagged for drawing Nessa/Rurina in a lighter shade and people getting offended and going after him is the biggest crybaby bullshit I have heard of in a while.
Going after someone for their artwork and trying to censor them in anyway just screams fucked up in every possible way, especially with something as trivial as that. Of course you can hate it and just downright swear to never like or look at any of their work again(I have a bunch of artist who I fully despise yet I still respect them for their work in a way) but attacking personally someone for it is just wrong, especially if it wasn’t even anything that serious. It’s sad to see how it is nowadays that people get offended by anything and everything so easily, yet at the same time don’t seem to know why they’re offended or more have to feel that they are being offended for someone else without actually asking the person or people they think are being offended. I guess it’s understandable to want to be able to feel you’re doing a good thing or helping yet it always comes off as more....being afraid it’s GOING to offend somebody, and rather than trying to help it just comes off as a more selfish need to validate yourself.
So yeah...while I do think this picture is in a bad taste, I don’t think “racism” is what they’re attempting, at least not entirely, since the whole point of this is parody and mocking such a stupid episode. On an aspect of art, it’s not badly drawn and kinda funny. But it’s understandable to be flagged if it is just meant to do nothing but steer people up.

Well, it’s just how I feel I guess.
It doesn't matter what the artist was going for. There is a long, sordid history with racists associating black people with monkeys. Considering the current issues we have with racism today, he should have known better. Now he's likely ruined his career, as no non-bigoted organization is going to want to associate themselves with him because this image will likely be the first thing that anyone thinks of when the artist comes up.

That just scream more closed minded than anything. If the artist was to do something professional and drew this, I understand the need for said company or group he work for to distance themselves, especially if it is done in actual malice. Otherwise, this artwork itself is just that. His artwork. If he worked for nobody and draw this as his own personal artwork, as well as intended as a mockery of such stupidity that occur, then he has every right to draw it.
Because if distancing yourself from artist just because of artwork that might be deemed offensive, then every wellknown professional Japanese artist would have to be fired since most of them have drawn lewd or hentai related work before, some of them extremely hardcore. Hell, art in general would have to be completely banned so it would not offend anyone at all because it will always in someway offend someone somewhere at sometime.
Yes, you can be unhappy about it. Yes, you can hate it. But you can’t tell him that he can’t draw this, especially if the reason is to stand against something so utterly stupid.
If you are to professionally judge an artist, judge him for his quality of art and the effort he put into it not only just because of what he has personally drawn.

This was a blatant attempt at baiting using a very obvious racist stereotype. While he has every right to draw it, everyone else has just as much right to criticize him for it.
I will agree with you that the original issue that this image stemmed from is dumb. However, if he wanted to make a point, he went waaayyy to far in trying to do so. Now he has to deal with it.
He may have the right to post this image, true; however everyone else has the right to call him out on how offensive it is.

People already labeling him as a "racist" over this one picture he made, yet he has made pictures such as post #3371151 which clearly shows the character with a dark skin tone as well. And in all honesty, has anyone even met the guy? Do people know his personal background and what he does around others in real life? I do agree that he should have known better when coming up with this image, but those guys who are constantly giving him flak and barraging him by calling him names or telling that "his career is dead" behind a computer screen aren't doing justice either, it's just straight up cyber bullying.

Which I believe is the point. I doubt he drew this without knowing about all the people he is going to trigger, as well as prepared for the shit storm from those that only see the surface. The fact that all this shit is happening to him, is kinda the whole point and no doubt what he was aiming for. Or he could be a complete moron and did it for the lulz and didn’t know but that’s impossibly stupid.
I also dont know him or anything and it’s not that I support him or anything like that. Just that as a fellow(shitty) artist, I just dislike the idea when it comes to censorship of art in anyway. I guess in a way, I’m just disheartened that such fiascal with the artist and the light skin Nessa/Rurina thing could happen in a time and age like this.

Once again, I am merely pointing out that this image is something that would not be out of place in the Jim Crow Era.
I don't give a damn about all the other stuff that came out with people lightening or darkening this.
The issue is that he turned a black character into a monkey in this image, which has a lot of racist connotations.
What makes this even worse is that on his own twitter account he was talking about how he was contacting a company for an interview. Now this image will be hanging over his head for it as well.
People already labeling him as a "racist" over this one picture he made, yet he has made pictures such as post #3371151 which clearly shows the character with a dark skin tone as well. Racist humour and racist satire is, you guessed it, still racist! In the first place, this image by itself is not humourous to anyone but racists. If we're talking about satire then... where is it? The only thing this could possibly be satirizing is... black people? In a depiction that would fit into 20s propaganda posters no less.
What is funny is that right-wing snowflakes like people defending him are too scared to admit that it's racist, and how they like it for that reason. It's almost like they know what they're doing is inherently wrong. You're weak.
As previously said, this is done in terrible taste... but in this site there are 12000 pictures with the rape tag on them, why are they not flagged? Is drawing a girl as a monkey as a stupid and bad edgy joke worse than rape?

I'm not defending him nor do I find this picture funny at all. I know what racism is like the back of my hand since I work part-time as a cashier in a convenience store dealing with all sorts of folks telling me stuff like the classic "Go back to your Country" or "You're better off working in the fields". But that does not mean people should constantly hate on one person because of one foolish mistake he made. I know it's tough to forgive him for what he did, but one mistake should not cost him the rest of his life. He is still a human being like the rest of us and everyone deserves a second chance.

Err, so the argument is that because he's drawn lewds of non-white people before, he can't possibly be racist? That's not really how racism works - it's belief that other races are inferior, not completely unable to be seen sexually.
And "constantly giving him flak"? This is the first time I've seen any controversy around this artist (although if it's not the first time that racism accusations have flown this artist's way, that doesn't help the "artist isn't racist" case any).
But more importantly, saying that a guy's career is going to suffer on some website the artist probably doesn't even visit isn't the same thing as actually attempting to end a career any more than a armchair strategist is a general in the field.
You're trying to say that the reaction is overblown, but in doing so, you're overblowing what people (here, at least) are actually saying or doing.

Keep in mind that there's a difference between "censorship" and "criticism". Censorship is when the government prevents you from speech about certain topics. People get told that their art is shit and they should just stop all the time. Hell, by the definition that refusing someone a platform or criticizing someone is "censorship", Danbooru's whole moderation queue is designed specifically to "censor" the art that is of poor quality. Likewise, we "censor" non-anime-related art, and fortunately, most of the obviously political propaganda artwork by having it fail to clear the queue.
Free speech includes the freedom to give someone shit for saying or doing something stupid, and even by your own admission, this was something stupid done explicitly to provoke a negative reaction, so a free society with free speech would naturally use that free speech to freely tell this artist where to shove his artwork.
People keep using words like "censorship" to just mean "any change THEY didn't like". Mortal Kombat X changed their fatality animation slightly by making a kick to the balls not clip through the groin without actually removing any of the gore? CENSORSHIP! SquareEnix puts more clothes on a boy because it made boy players insecure in the sexuality uncomfortable and they whined until the character was more heavily clothed? NO CENSORSHIP THERE, THAT'S JUST BEING TASTEFUL! The new Mortal Kombat is reducing the women's breast sizes and moving away from lingerie battle suits because they stunt-cast some real-life professional female fighters to be part of the game as a deliberate design choice by the art team to make the real person not stand out by comparison to the fictional characters? CENSORSHIP! AND WE'RE GOING TO DEMAND ARTISTIC CHANGES THE ARTISTS DON'T WANT IN THEIR ART UNTIL WE GET OUR WAY, BECAUSE US NOT GETTING WHAT WE WANT IS WHAT "CENSORSHIP" MEANS NOW, APPARENTLY!
I'm all for fighting actual censorship, but nowadays, it's never used to actually talk about governments stopping free speech (which is ABSOLUTELY a real problem in the world), but instead about video game titties not being as large as they like.

He didn't say he found it funny, especially, because the commenter is not white. Funnily enough, I am not as well, and while you won't find me defending works like this one, you certainly won't find me attacking others for something so stupid as racism that does not carry consequence. If you knew so much about what it is like being a victim of racism you would be worried about the racism that isn't public or seen, like when it comes to getting a job or a promotion to a leadership position. Besides, the whole internet sees how beautiful Nessa is, just look at her popularity when it comes to looks alone, and I don't think that only black people realize that she's far from a monkey.
As previously said, this is done in terrible taste... but in this site there are 12000 pictures with the rape tag on them, why are they not flagged? Is drawing a girl as a monkey as a stupid and bad edgy joke worse than rape?
Well, we do have a policy against saying that something else is worse being an excuse against flagging something for a reason: If you can't do anything to make anything better until you solve the worst possible problem ever, nothing will ever get done on anything.
Beyond that, though, an artwork depicting rape isn't the same thing as actually raping someone, but a racist artwork IS racist. We have a website policy against racist speech while we don't have any such policy for uploading rape. (Although something like making a comment where someone angrily threatens to rape another user would also be covered under "hate speech"... but you know, you can see the difference between a hentai doujin with rape and actively going around the forums shouting how you'll rape people, right?)
He didn't say he found it funny, especially, because the commenter is not white. Funnily enough, I am not as well,
And how, exactly, would you know the race of other users, commenter whose account is 4 years old, but has no activity except 5 comments (2 in this thread)?

But I *do* see you defending this work, right now! You're actively trying to defuse some of the criticism against it, trying to mitigate the attacks against it, which is, you know, what the word "defending" means.
And while yes, this entire thing is incredibly stupid, for some reason, all I ever see is people putting this shit on Danbooru while constantly screaming about how offended they are that someone, somewhere else was offended by something, and that's so annoying to them that they're going to force everyone else on the entire goddamn Internet to hear about how unreasonable some other person I've never heard about is. Honestly, I have yet to see the censorship police that makes life so insufferable for artists, but the reaction to it sure has been insufferable. How is what you're doing not vastly more annoying than the people in a corner of the Internet I don't have to care about staying in their own little corner?

Well, putting aside the dubiousness of your not only claiming minority status as well as you somehow knowing everyone else suspiciously agreeing with your totally-not-a-sockpuppet-account somehow also is a minority, then as that minority, you'd surely know that racism isn't a single isolated incident. That inability to get a promotion is caused by the constant omnipresence of beliefs that other races have inherent traits like being stupid or monkey-like, and every one of those racist stereotypes that goes unchallenged is something that makes it more likely you won't ever get that promotion or job. And while, again, the whole "wrong shade" for a fictional character thing absolutely was incredibly stupid, the response to it of drawing the character as a monkey or all these overt defenses of racist artworks as being perfectly fine and normal and totally less of a problem than all the rape artwork absolutely is the sort of thing that is used to defend all the barriers of systemic racism holding minorities back.
The thing with this kind of post given the context is that the people getting triggered about this post is exactly the kind of response he was looking for when he drew it. When you cry racism, that in itself creates foundations for racism to occur. If the people claiming to be enforcers of racial injustice were truly color-blind themselves, they wouldn't be finding offense where there was none in the first place, and then there wouldn't be a reason for him to play them.
As one who is already sick and tired of the race card used to control people, I say he played this well. Those losing their minds are only cementing his victory in this debate, unless there is actually a legitimate proof to suggest that he is in fact, racist against dark colored individuals.
Hmm...you do have a point. I guess I have been using that word out of context in a sense. Censorship is a far reach now that I really examine it closely, especially considering there are real censorship in other countries. It’s a bad reach on my part.
For me, my problem isn’t so much anything about racism or whatnot but just what happen to the artist who did that artwork of light skin Nessa/Rurina being targeted and flagged just for drawing what he did and I doubt on purpose. They did not deserve such bullshit to happen to them, nobody should. It always saddens me that anyone who even dare draw an picture that might not comply with whatever demand of other view it as can be open to personal attacks and it is always terrible if that is what cause them to stop drawing.
This is not the first time it happen and certainly not the last but it is very disheartening. Nobody should be subjected to such a thing. It’s the slippery slop of these controversal panics that keep happening because someone always find a way to feel offended, but rather because it’s actually offensive, they’re doing it to force it to seem offensive to the people they think are being offended. There are certain things that should be changed for the better but it always end with something being so trivial that it spirals out of control and move to the side of complete bullshit that defeats the purpose it was trying to serve. Although, saying this in Danbooru is pointless since most of the people here are much more open minded.
That said, I do think this picture is in bad taste but like I said if it is to be flagged it should be because it is made to piss people off purposely and stir up fights, but there are plenty other artwork that does the same thing. I still do feel the understanding of why it was made at all because what has happen was just utter stupidity. It’s the same as all other satire/parody work that were also created when other controversy are created. Is it a little too far? Perhaps, but there are many other works that go just as far if we look past just the racism tag.
I also do not think anyone should be consider racist for wanting to argue that this picture should be kept or laughing at it. If anything, this should be put in the current event pool as all others as to show how such a stupid event can happen and what it can cause.

You mean, there was someone somewhere on the Internet who was offended by something, so a massive disproportionate shitstorm being forced into everyone else's faces to prove how bad some nebulous "THEY" are is justified?
Again, in all these posts, there's people screaming about the big, bad censorship or loss of careers that isn't happening, or how terrible some #whitewashing campaign is that nobody would have ever heard about except for the 'anti-#whitewashing' side telling everyone they exist. As far as I can tell, this could practically be a false-flag operation, because all I've seen is people arguing against something I haven't seen any proof even exists yet.
The only people losing their minds are the people jumping up to declare victory over someone who isn't even here, and it frankly, it's making those people look pretty absurd and rather annoying to try to force such a non-issue into everyone's faces.

This. Speaking as somebody who moves in pretty left wing circles, the biggest response to light-skinned swimmer gym leader fanart that I've seen from that field has been eye-rolling and derisive comments - less "how dare you" outrage, more "ugh, this BS again" exasperation, with less "we have to protest this" and more "comment on it once when it passes your feed, then move on in the hopes ignoring it makes it go away".
The counter-outrage, on the other hand, has been prolific and emotionally charged.
And its all terribly, terribly stupid, given that the darker skin is half the charm point that makes her interesting enough to get a bevvy of fanart in the way the generic swimmer models don't and so everybody is aware that the overwhelming majority of fanart is going to be accurately dark-skinned ANYWAY because that's part of why she's getting fanart, and so everybody is aware that most, if not all, of the light-skinned art is basically just an extended exercise in trying to annoy unrelated people rather than engage in fandom or get wank fodder (an exercise that is getting desperate if it's drawing this deeply into racist caricature).

First of all, when I am saying defending it, I mean supporting, to be more precise, as I do believe this work is deserving of criticism (like all art), I just don't agree with the way people are going about it. Also kind of funny how I might have created this account 4 years ago to be used in this SPECIFIC moment, if me and the previous commenter were the same person then why would the only comment in which both accounts interact be this one, 4 years after the account's creation. It'd simple, I don't comment a lot because this is an image board, not a forum, I normally come here to perv on anime girls, not exactly to have discussions with random people, which is why you would see that my other comments are just completely harmless quips on the pictures. You can also easily IP check as to see both accounts are not the same, so how do I know the other guy is not white? Well, he said it just before, and I took his word for it, that's why I vaguely labeled him as "not white", he said he's not white so I just don't know what ethnicity he is, but also see no reason as to not believe him, I mean why would he lie on an image board discussion of all things, that would just invalidate his point to his most important critic, himself. Me, for one, I'm Brazillian, living in Portugal, now, you don't need to believe me, but then again it doesn't really matter. On your last point, however, yeah, good point, it flew right over my head. But then again, the only thing I want is for people to make arguments like you did just now, instead of name-calling at getting offended for other people's problems.
For anyone still defending Evulart under the impression that he created this piece in good faith, I present a detailed outline of his continuous racist behaviour https://i.imgur.com/WIcFLO3.jpg
So, this is definitively a racist depiction, by a racist, antisemitic white supremacist. But it's still just a bait, right?

Do you have a higher res version? I’m just seeing a bunch of blurred 4chan post on imgur that I dont even know if it’s the right image or if it’s the one below it.
This picture is still bait. It was made to piss people off and stir trouble. That’s the whole point of it.

I don't think anoyone here thinks he made it in GOOD faith, but rather that he was just getting a reaction, as in, he made it in bad faith, but the target would be the people who get "butthurt" and not black people, but seems not.

It's a large image so takes a while to load then you'll be able to zoom in.
Anyway, there's no point to further debate on this since you refuse to acknowledge what is laid plain and bare.
NWSiaCB your work here has not gone without appreciation, thank you for your insight.
I don't think anoyone here thinks he made it in GOOD faith, but rather that he was just getting a reaction, as in, he made it in bad faith, but the target would be the people who get "butthurt" and not black people, but seems not.
Well, usually the people who seem to scream the loudest are usually not the intended target group they try to offend. There’s always this mentality for alot of people that they need to screen and deem what is offensive for the other group of people. It just seems like guilt, although even if they haven’t really....done anything wrong themselves. Of course I know there are many that are only trying to errr...”help”, if I can use that word, but it just goes too far and end up being more harmful and divisive than helpful.
It is the same thing with racism nowaday. Everyone is ready to jump on it, ready to feel offended for others without actually knowing if others are going to be offended.
So, I'm kind of wondering what the standards are in approving images on this site, because it seems very arbitrary at this point. Also, ironic racism is still racism.
So if you are claiming that people aren't crying racism , then what is the problem? It is pretty obvious the target of this image isn't black people, but the critics claiming another image was racist. The commentary to this image points to that as well as several other commentators here giving the background to this image.
You are trying to claim this is a non-issue, when clearly your comments suggested otherwise. Like you said, this is something that would have just resided in his corner of the internet, so again, what is the deal when he triggers his critics?

For anyone still defending Evulart under the impression that he created this piece in good faith, I present a detailed outline of his continuous racist behaviour https://i.imgur.com/WIcFLO3.jpg
So, this is definitively a racist depiction, by a racist, antisemitic white supremacist. But it's still just a bait, right?
You realize what you posted were all jokes and memes. Half of them are even against white people too, so I kind of doubt that this is his manifesto. Just like people post 9/11 memes and the ISIS song montages, that doesn't mean they are terrorists. Or heck, we even have Hi-Ace jokes on this website, doesn't mean Danbooru supports pedophilia and kidnapping.
And "constantly giving him flak"? This is the first time I've seen any controversy around this artist (although if it's not the first time that racism accusations have flown this artist's way, that doesn't help the "artist isn't racist" case any).
Please be calm. Almost all these comments are downvoted. It doesn’t mean anything. Just go to your settings and set comment threshhold to -100. It’s nothing to get too worked up over.
Most of his comments and the artworks themselves is still just him trolling and being a general douchebag though. I’m not defending him, but you can see he is deliberately doing things to piss people off especially those that seem to fall for his simple trap. It’s literally the most basic of trolling that it’s not even good trolling. Screaming he’s racist, he’s racist, really isn’t making any case and seem to be the exactly the reaction he’s trying to get.
Man, Hentai Foundry has gotten soft. All it took was one meme to thrown them into a frenzy. This is especially true when you consider the type of content on that site. Truly they've seen better days.
Damn this is pretty racist especially since it's the only dark skinned character on his shitty page.
Speaking of racism, did you know that crackers were originally Neanderthals? They looked like white hairless chimps. Maybe that's why they felt the need to push they're beauty and faggot agenda on the whole world, who knows🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️. I'm not quite sure how neadacrakers came about but it's probably a spawn of satan due to the shit they've done.
Creating unseasoned jesus, racially driven slavery, school shootings. they were even the first sinners according to the bible but I don't really believe in god otherwise cousin fucking crackers would've been erased from this shitty planet.
As a Nessa skinned person, I find this really funny, but not for the reason you expect. People are fighting over if this depiction of her is racist or not and forgot the biggest thing of all, that we're all LITERALLY just monkeys.
People getting upset over this dumb drawing is hilarious, third worlders have nothing better than to do in their lives other than complain about the smallest things.

Humans & chimpanzees are APES, not MONKEYS you uncultured swine!
So two years later, this post was undeleted and now people are having a flag war over it again. Deleted and locked, we're not dredging up an argument again over a troll post deleted two years ago.
