She had issues diving when we first met her, but even with that handicap she fought her way through to the boss of the Orel run.

In the Kantai Collection canon, do the girls become ship girls in some way or is it just canon here (I'm already confused and especially the comments and what is the canon for the ship girls in Kantai Collection?)
