God...I know I shouldn't but for some reason I really, really hate her face and the way the artist colors. It looks so round and so...ugh compared to a fanart
The color hurts my eyes and really makes me feel sick. Guess I'm coming off as rude but still.
Hopefully she'll grow on me but until than, she looks pretty bleh.
I think she's one of those girls that will end up looking nicer in fanart. Her design is cool but the art overall is just eh...
Seconded. I've said it on Discord to friends, and I'll say it here: Acea's style is very old-school and quaint, which isn't a bad thing, but it doesn't really work for a gatcha. Art for those needs to be much sharper and bolder in terms of lines and color.
A Browning Auto-five? Feels like a Thompson with a drum mag would be more fitting judging by what I remember reading of how fast her guns could fire in combat. I like the gun and hull layout but her body type feels a little too generic, not quite mature enough (Americans CLs were like twice as heavy as Japanese counterparts I think). Will agree that she'll look better in fanart. I also find it amusing that she's drawn by the same guy who drew the Akagi personification from almost 10 years ago that looked like KC Akagi
Design works, kinda, especially at kai. Style though, not so much. It works for the DEs despite the fact they end up feeling kinda pudgy because of it, but here is eh.......
Intrepid situation really, but not because of an art flub. Where the design gets a good score but the presentation causes issues with the community.
Overall, not fond of how the guns were slapped to the side of the hull.
It may sound pedantic, but KC is technically not a gacha. It has a frustration level of one, yes, but not by constantly sucking your wallet hard and still not giving you the units you want. But of course, that doesn't diminish the complaints about acea4 style not being within the "satisfactory" range compared to the rest, which is subjective.
I've had this stance from the start: Acea4 isn't bad artist, only badly utilized. This kind of style could've worked better for side materials that are not directly game-related. Like, re-drawing bunch of ships separated by different artists into one style and giving them wholesome context. I'm thinking of something like illustrated hourly lines where ships usually interact with each other.
Though to be fair, this is the same game that still keeps Yadokari's not-so-stellar old works for Mutsukis (boy they are many), Drew's old 7th desdivs (usually overlaid by seasonals), Kuuro's arguably worst CG that is base Akitsumaru, UGUME's base Kiso-Furutaka-Kako, Kusada Souta's base Mutsuki-Kisaragi, Ayaki's noodle-limbs Tenryuu and so on. If Youki is deadlocked as Shinano's artist, we're in rude awakening because the artist's style is so 90s it'll make you think you've gone back in time.
