There's nothing subconscious about this. They both actively made the decision to style their hair like the other so they would match. Chen is telling Ran to do her hair that way and Orin explains to Chen in the fourth panel that she had the same idea.

Is it just me, or is Rin with Chen's hair unbearably adorable?
