C.B.'s parents were an umamusume and her former trainer, who "half-eloped" because C.B.'s mom's family was against the marriage. The story is well known enough in-verse that even mob umas can be heard gossiping about it.

It's canon. It's also loosely based on how C.B.'s RL parents (Tosho Boy and C.B. Queen) ran the same maiden race together. And also Green Grass (one of the "TTG"s along with Tosho Boy and Ten Point).

RL Tosho Boy also belonged to the Hidaka Horse Breeder's Association (after retiring as a stud), which happened to have a harebrained rule in place only allowing horses owned by fellow member farms to breed. Tosho Boy's popularity as a stud was fading fast, being only able to attract mediocre old nags to breed leading to low birth rates and mediocre offspring. So when Tosho Boy and C.B. Queen (a then young breeding mare with 3 major wins) showed a mutual interest in each other, the person in charge of the farm quickly arranged for them to breed secretly, against Association rules. He got a major scolding by the Association for this but Tosho Boy's popularity as a stud soon boomed thanks to Mr. C.B. so he got a commendation for this in the end instead.
So yeah, in a way, C.B.'s RL parents also "eloped" with each other.

I get what you mean, but Brian's line could also just as much be said in a nonsexual meaning (ie. the current note), so I would say it's best to keep as is for now.
