Thai food has a notoriety for spiciness, and if you’re looking for something to test the waters of the cuisine, I recommend Pad Krapow Kai Dow (Basil stir fry w/ a fried egg atop). Most ‘authentic’ restaurants in the US will provide pork (moo) or chicken (gai) as the protein, though I’ve seen tofu as an option too. It’s arguably the actual comfort food of our people than pad Thai, great to have for a hearty lunch.
Edit: just realized it’s Japanese curry, not Thai…the advice is still genuine tho.
