At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised a certain laughing purple dragon follows suit. Niji as a whole seems to be falling apart.
Maybe not already, but I currently expect both major orgs to have individuals lobbying hard to bring her in.
Let's be honest, the most surprising thing is the part where Pomu's departure was announced before Selen's. The second-most surprising thing is that she's leaving so soon -- I had a hunch she wouldn't renew her contract and would leave soon; but I expected her to leave around Feb-Mar, not the middle of Jan.
The biggest question I have is whether Pomu made her decision before or (immediately) after management ruined Selen's Christmas. Between Selen's stealth suspension and Pomu's graduation, it looks like the beginning of the end for Niji EN. They're all great vtubers, but it's a shame about their management.
Can anyone explain, please? I understand that "Pomu Rainpuff" is leaving, but how come Nijisanji is screwed? Are they down to less than five people? And what's that story about Selen's Christmas?

Niji keeps on fucking over their Streamers, more and more keep leaving, it's nothing new. Selen produced a cover which released on Christmas and got taken down by Niji in like 24 hours.

I thought streamers could put on whatever they wanted, and that the agencies only helped for legal advices, events, and whatever? Can they go to someone's channel and just... zip? That's a shame, a lot of the Nijisanji girls are perfect material for smuts, but Nijisanji likely copyrighted the characters, so once they graduates, they're fucking dead.
A certain phoenix would love to have her in the same company
Gen 3 debuted about 3 or 4 months ago. I wouldn't be surprised if Gen 4 debuts in 2025 at the earliest. Ms. Phoenix's best hope is that the company allows the branch to establish its own Gen 0. If Niji EN does fall apart, they would be fools not to have one.

How out of the loop are you that you think working for a company doesn't come with rules? Niji and Holo talents have to get permission for nearly anything they do, especially where music and games are concerned, which applies to most large vtuber agencies. Cases like Vshoujo are exceptions.
Selen's case is extra weird because there's absolutely no way she could've even started working on a cover without getting permission from management, so for Niji to private the video the same day it went up raises a lot of questions. I haven't been keeping up with the situation so I'm not sure if any of those questions have gotten answers.
A lot of people also think she was stealth suspended, since she went radio silent almost immediately after it happened, along with some other details that might be getting too conspiratorial. This is all really par for the course for Selen, I'm not sure Niji has ever treated that poor girl right.

In Selen's case, both she and the copyright holder of the song she covered, both stated she got permission to cover the song all the way back in August. And the stealth suspension talk was related to her "sudden trip to the hospital over an undisclosed injury." Mostly the way the post was composed, with it being very mechanical, the structure not being similar to how Selen tweets and the wording being very sanitized.

Yeah, that's what I meant by it being too conspiratorial. I didn't really want to get into a debate over whether or not Niji management hijacked her twitter to claim, using her own voice, that she was hospitalized as a cover for suspending her right after cockblocking the cover she worked so hard on. I can't say it doesn't sound exactly like something Niji would do at this point, and it's really fucked up if true, but it's all conjecture and Selen obviously would never be able to confirm it.

As far as I know, Selen heard she got the green light for Last Cup of Coffee, the people she was working with also said everything was in order. Then her management basically said, "We fucked up and you don't actually have perms" the day of release and took it down.
And speaking of management fucking up, Pomu's graduation announcement was released two hours earlier than she intended it to be. She woke up to learn that it was posted before she was even ready to address it.

Yeah, the hospital stuff is a little too conspiratorial. While I wouldn't put it past EN's garbage management to do something like that, it's usually better to look for the simpler answers in these cases. A certain heartbeat avian only became active again after Selen came back as well, so the timing for the alleged hospitalization does match up.

Not the most informed on current going ons of vtubers, but wasn't it already more or less confirmed that Niji does in fact cover up their suspensions by forcing their vtubers to claim other reasons for not being on. Pretty sure this was discussed on a video with FalseEyeD piecing together statements by streamers and aligning things up with official statements and periods of absences for some Niji streamers, was early 2023 I think.

Based on what that little birdie told the world, there is an extremely high chance (over 99.99% probability) that Selen Tatsuki genuinely was in the hospital for a few days after Christmas.
And based on the dearth of activity on Selen Tatsuki's twitter account, with no tweets since Christmas except for her "I'm in the hospital" tweet and her follow-up "I'm out of the hospital" tweet; and the many, MANY hours that passed between that first tweet being posted and when the Niji EN livers started posting "get well soon" tweets (which may or may not have been written by their respective managers); and the very conspicuous absence of any acknowledgement of her existence by the other livers since Christmas, except for that one GWS tweet most of them (and/or their managers) sent; and the complete absence of any public response by Selen Tatsuki to the news of Pomu's graduation... based on all of that, it is extremely likely that Selen Tatsuki has been suspended since Christmas over the Coffee incident, and since before she was hospitalized.
Excluding the two hospitalization tweets; and the various livers' (....managers') single, solitary response to the first one; today (8 Jan) is the 14th day since Selen Tatsuki's last public comment of any sort, and since any public reference to her by the rest of Niji EN. If her suspension is for "only" 14 days, she should return tomorrow. If she doesn't return tomorrow, keep an eye on her Streamlabs; specifically, keep an eye on it to see whether or not it gets removed before her return.
I'm glad she's doing well enough to have been released from the hospital, and I hope she's able to make a full recovery; but at the same time I can't help but wonder how Niji is gonna be able to explain her absence since her release from the hospital without publicly admitting that she's been suspended since before her accident.

She's as good as gone. Either tomorrow or the 24th/25th.
No announcement yet. But it's basically guaranteed that Selen has been, in fact, suspended. If she's out of the hospital, she's well enough to call Pomu during her Goodbye Totsumachi stream. And she didn't (or couldn't!)

They are pulling a Yugo I bet, waiting for her to quit.

If they Yugo her, they won't be able to trash talk her in the announcement. Plus they wouldn't be able to force any of the other livers to put out an "I hate Selen Tatsuki" tweet as a condition of continued employment, nor force a liver to take a "voluntary" one week hiatus for putting out an "I don't hate Selen Tatsuki" tweet.
And they're definitely not gonna Gundou her. That's basically "pulling a Yugo on her, except with management affording her a chance to say goodbye to her fans."
My guess is that they're gonna Zaion her. The only two questions are "when will they publish the announcement" and "how ham-fisted will they be in their attempts to unperson her" -- the latter will probably include blacklisting the artists who worked on the MV, and possibly also other content creators who give not-Selen so much as the time of day after they officially sack her.

I don't think trying to Zaion her is a good idea. Zaion was a short-lived member who barely had connections in Nijisanji and the larger Vtubing world outside of her genmate, and even right now, even the people who liked her will agree that her attitude was somewhat problematic and she does share some of the blame in her termination, yet look how much damage she still managed to make.
Selen is a 2+ years member, widely beloved by both everyone in EN and outside the company, and her attitude, despite literally being in "Nijicancelled", still is much more professional than Zaion ever was.
As much of a PR disaster Niji EN has already been, with almost everyone already standing behind Selen, at this point, why would anyone buy any of their attempts to paint Selen in a negative light? And what does Nijisanji even stand to gain from it?

Dunno what they'd gain by Zaioning Selen, but at best it would be about as much as they gained by privating Pomu's members only stream from May explaining why she decided to graduate (she made all her members streams public right before graduating; that one is the only one so far which has since been privated).
As far as attempting to paint Selen in a negative light is concerned, the only people they really need or want to convince are the shareholders. If they cared about the livers or the fans, none of this mess would have happened -- Selen's MV would still be up, and Pomu would not have decided to graduate.

Except for the tiny caveat that 1: they have Chinese investors and 2: Owning up to their foul-ups.
With every passing week, the vtubing industry is becoming more and more like the pro-wrestling industry. Each with their superstars, mid-carders, and curtain jerkers. There is the super powers, smaller organizations, and indies. Don't be surprised if there is factionalism even within your favorite orgs. And one thing I feel is inevitable is the concept of "free agency" as a part of the industry as a whole. I wouldn't be surprised if generational debuts gives way to individual debuts. VShojo, probably unintentionally, showed it's a real thing. Others should realize this, otherwise they risk letting their competitors to out maneuver them. The rules are changing.

And "Pomu" is the #1 free agent right now.
So I'm not exactly sure what your point is, but I'm pretty sure Pomu isn't keeping her persona, as is typical for graduation/termination from a corporate company, and it's not like she's in any different position from any other Niji/Holo talent that's left the company, so I'm not sure what's supposed to make her special. Also iirc she said she was going back to school, so she's not even a player in the industry, at least for the time being.
As for individual debuts, there's a lot of benefits to debuting as a group, at least in Hololive's case. Debuting solo is hard, especially as the industry gets more oversaturated. Having a group of people just as fresh to the scene as you that you can collab with, instead of being forced to collab with someone with a preexisting fanbase or just not at all, helps a lot. Pro-wrestling by its nature requires you to interact with other talents, which gives ample opportunity to show off to fans what you have to offer.

....this comment of mine aged like milk, on the rocks, left behind a commode in a truck stop men's room.
Except the rocks are not ice cubes, but rather ice cube-sized pieces of the finest Pripyat graphite.

The best part is their statement is so full of holes, and people related to Selen have spoken up about problems they've personally had with Niji's incompetence. An artist that did work for her has come out saying that Niji fucked up the invoice three times and never paid her, resulting in Selen having to pay her out of pocket, while Niji's statement claims it's Selen's fault that creators weren't getting paid.

What a fucking shitshow.
It is worth pointing out that anyone that has followed Nijisanji in depth knows that typically for stuff such as commissions, if it is just talent commissioning art normally, it's the talent that generally pays out of pocket for that, not the company (and this isn't unique to them either, think of how much Hololive's Houshou Marine has spent of her own money to fund her animated MVs). The fact that it seems that the artists believed that Nijisanji would've paid for art Selen commissioned probably stems from the mass miscommunication between Selen and management, further indicating the kind of shitshow that was going on.

The artist claimed the company was the one sending the messed up invoices, meaning that regardless of who was actually supposed to be responsible for the payment, management was dropping the ball and the artist wasn't getting paid until Selen did it herself.
