It really seems like that, doesn't it? The only difference is that Fern only holds her arm. With an elderly person, you'd hold their arm, but also have a hand on their side, to lead them, and also to hold them in case they slip.

Depends on the person's specific condition, honestly. Most elders in my family would look at you funny if you tried that, i knew some my great-grandparents up until my teen years and most of them stayed rather physically independant until their passing

Oh yeah, I meant in retirement houses, not at home. Then again, the one retirement house I worked at had really, really diminished people anyway, some of them barely walked, so they were the extreme cases.
